What is a 501(c)(3) organization?

A 501(c)(3) organization is a federally tax-exempt, qualified charitable organization with a dedicated mission. Any revenue earned (e.g., tuition) or funds received (e.g., donations) by Bard are put back into the organization and used for mission-based purposes. You can learn more about nonprofit organizations by visiting the IRS website.

Why does this matter? For donors this means that their gift is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and they can be confident that their donations are used to forward its mission and not for the benefit of shareholders or individuals.
