Why do I need to help fund higher education in the first place?
In the United States, the higher education system relies heavily on charitable donations. In other countries, higher education is funded, regulated, and controlled by the government, although these institutions are also relying on donations more and more. While the US system is not without its flaws, Bard is devoted to many of the issues that are a byproduct of our system, for instance, through improving access to meaningful higher education by offering over $70 million dollars in need-based financial aid to 79% of students (as of the academic year 2023–24).
To do this the College relies on the generous support of individual donors, as well as foundation, government, and organizational gifts and grants. |
