Former recipient of the Philip H. Gordon Family Moral Leadership Scholarship
Sonita Alizada is internationally recognized as a rapper and human rights advocate. She has spoken and performed at United Nations events, urging an end to child marriage and standing up for the rights of women and girls, especially in her home country. At Bard, Alizada graduated with a degree in human rights and music and was an active participant in civic engagement efforts in and around the campus community. Alizada will continue her work by pursuing graduate study in public policy at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.

Jonathan Asiedu ’24Berta and Harold J. Drescher Scholar, Mark Purlia '71 Memorial Scholar, and Siebens Lindholm Scholar
Jonathan Asiedu ’24, from the Bronx, New York, is a lead resident assistant, Office of Equity and Inclusion liaison, content creator, and Written Arts major at Bard College. Jonathan intends to continue into the Bard Masters of Arts in Teaching program in Literature in the Spring of 2024. Jonathan says, “My time at Bard has been amazing! I have been surrounded by new environments and experiences that have helped me to grow as a person and to learn the many ways I can give back to those around me and to be a leader of change in the future.”Jonathan Asiedu ’24
For fun, he enjoys capturing and creating content around the Bard College campus, as well as speaking with Bardians, faculty, and staff and learning more about them. -
Blanche Darr ’25Association of Episcopal Colleges' Charitable Service Scholar and Werner Wolff Scholar
Blanche is a fourth-year student pursuing a 5-year double degree in violin performance and anthropology. On campus, she is a peer counselor, a trustee leader scholar (TLS), and project leader of the Musical Mentorship Initiative, a project that provides free music education to needy children. Her experience at Bard has been crucial to her academic and personal development because it is the only place where she can equally explore music, academics, and community service. Thanks to musical outreach, she discovered her love for community service.

Arnav Shirodkar ’24John W. Boylan Scholar in Medicine and Science and Robert L. Martin Scholar
Arnav is from Singapore and decided to attend Bard College primarily due to the unique double degree program it offers, allowing him to pursue my passions in both STEM and percussion. Throughout his time at Bard, the most invaluable experience has been the opportunity to connect with fellow students and faculty who are deeply engaged in interdisciplinary work, which has significantly broadened his horizons as both a software engineer and a musician. He has had the privilege of serving as an academic tutor for the Bard Prison Initiative, which aligns with his desire to give back to the Bard community.
